Can someone just ... Can someone just simply tell me how to root this tablet. I just bought it yesterday and it has the 1.4.2 software whatever. I've heard everything from patching the sd card to erasing my tablet to factory settings but that doesn't do anything because it's still 1.4.2. Just want to know how to bring up the settings for? debugging.

yes its your ... yes its your drivers. Try "adb? devices" to see if your kindle fire is being recognized.

I installed the ... I installed the driver (first part of the? video). But when I open runme.bat and follow the instructions, it just leaves me at "waiting for device". What does that mean? Is my computer not recognizing the tablet? Or why am i getting stuck at this point? Is it just a time issue?

It won't let me get ... It won't let me get to the settings at the? beginning, it only says: "For security reasons, only app purchased through the NOOK Shop can be installed." Then the only option is OK.
